".....I convinced my husband that this toothbrush would make a perfectly acceptable Mother's Day gift...in 2002. My husband and I used this brush 5-6 times per day for 7 years and it finally gave its last performance. Some electronic part beneath the power button finally broke and it would no longer turn off.

I will replace this brush with another Sonicare toothbrush (am still investigating which model). I have been extremely happy with Sonicare's cleaning results (we even bought our children the Essence model).

I have a lower brace that tends to collect plaque and my gums would easily bleed at the dentist's office. Since using the Sonicare daily, I do not have as much build up and my gums don't bleed during dental visits.

Another plus: The battery stays charged for at least 7 days, so for any trip shorter than a week, we would not even pack the charger.

I know that the expense puts this toothbrush out of reach for many people. However, once you commit to the expense, it is well worth the money. I believe that it has increased my dental & gum health, which is worth a lot to me. ......"

".....Keep in mind that this is the first Sonicare toothbrush I've used so no prior reference point here. But this is the best toothbrush I've ever used, and by a long shot! My dentist had been recommending Sonicare to me for the last couple of years, yet I resisted, mostly because my Braun Oral B 3-d toothbrush was still working fine. But when my daughter's Oral B brush's battery finally died I decided to get a Sonicare for her. This brush wasn't available online or in stores at the time, but I found it on Ebay. I decided on this model because for one thing it uses a lithium-ion rechargeable battery instead of the ni-cad batteries used in other Sonicare models. When it arrived I decided to try the brush myself and WOW, did it ever tickle! You get used to that sensation within a few brushings. The brush action is lightning fast, no comparison with the Oral B, and my mouth and teeth feel so much cleaner. It literally feels like a visit to the dentist twice a day (without the vacuum hanging out of the corner of my mouth). I can't emphasize enough that comparing this brush to the Oral B is like comparing a $100,000 sports car to a '72 Pinto, it's that good. I've written very few reviews in my life, but just had to let the public know about this terrific new product. Buy it!  ....."

".....The basic Sonicare is excellent. It cleans better overall than the original design (particularly the back molars). Also, the handle is lighter, and the charger compact.

I would not pay more (let alone twice) for any of the "advanced" versions. They clean in exactly the same way as the basic model (same brush, motor, charger), but have options that are largely useless.

About the options: (a) For a softer mode, a manual brush with extra-soft bristles (like the Nimbus) is more effective and gentler on the gums, (b) for a "deeper" mode (just more time), press the button twice instead, and (c) the UV system to "sanitize" the head by killing bacteria is useless, and provides no real health benefit compared to rinsing the brush. ....."

"......We have been using the Sonicare brushes for years.... update when new models come out. My dentist suggested it many years ago and it has really helped. Partly because you are 'forced' to brush for two minutes.

The kids brush takes this wonderful brush down to the kids level. The sound emitted during the brush is nowhere as loud as it is on the adult brush so that helps. The ramp up speed is great for them to get used to this new way of brushing. And the idea of knowing when to switch to another side of your teeth and when it is over is so helpful.

The only complaint is the size of the handle....a little bit of getting the hang of it for a 4 year old.

Nonetheless, it does an excellent job. Bravo Sonicare. It's the talk of the household......."

"....... This is the replacement brush head to use with the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush with Sanitizer. It's a snap to use (literally): Just pull off the old brush and push on the new one until it snaps and you're ready to enjoy your FlexCare. Phillips recommends a new brush head every three months. You'll know it's time to replace the brush when the old bristles start to spread out, but just to be sure, the replacements come with handy little month stickers that you can put on your charger base.

The FlexCare is a great toothbrush, and these replacement brushes will keep you and your dentist happy for nine months. At less than ten dollars each, they are well worth the price. ......"

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Product, November 3, 2005

(REAL NAME)
I have researched the Sonicare toothbrushes and found the best value to be this new model, I am very happy with it. I read all the reviews for the other models, held them in my hand at the Department store and found the only difference between this and the higher priced models is in the style of the handle and the fancy lights showing the remaining battery life. Also the Elite models have the beep every 30 seconds during the 2 minute timer. This model has all the features I need: Easy reach brush(Uses same replacement heads as the Elite models),2-minute timer. Since these things only last a couple of years anway, what's the sense of spending another $30 or more for features you don't need to clean your teeth. Buy this toothbrush and use the money you saved to buy replacement heads. Update March 20,2012: Wow this thing lasted me 7 years!!! I just ordered another one from Amazon today!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Experience With Sonicare, March 25, 2006
By
Todd Thorne "laesta" (The Woodlands, TX United States) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)
The Sonicare Essence is my second Sonicare toothbrush. Previously, I used an Advance, which lasted about four and a half years. Prior to that, I had a different brand of electric brush. Some observations follow.

In general, any Sonicare would be a wise investment for you. No question, years of using it have saved me time and money at the dentist. By now you've seen from the other reviews how effective it is at cleaning your teeth. As I get older, I'm finding just how effective a job it also does at slowing my gum recession. I consider the sonic system superior over other brand's rotating mechanical approaches, which seemed to have more of an unpleasant taste and couldn't be used with just any brand or style of toothpaste, unlike the Sonicare.

The Essence and Elite models use the more slender heads versus the Advance. Slender is more comfortable as you maneuver the head around your mouth. Also, the slender heads tend to stay cleaner from build-up and... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Pay more for the better design., July 8, 2008
By
College Jane (So. California, USA) - See all my reviews
Do yourself a favor and buy the Sonicare Flex Care. The newer Flex Care models are an upgrade without the screw-on design flaw of this Sonicare model. This model has a hideous design where the saliva and other brushing liquids seep down into the inner mechanisms of the hand piece and pool up in a really disgusting way and requires you to take it apart and clean off inner crevices made up of metal and plastic parts. The new design eliminates all that slew of slime. This brushing action is fantastic, just like the new one, but this design stinks...literally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now a lazy person can have clean teeth, August 28, 2004
This review is from: Philips Sonicare Elite e7300 Power Toothbrush (Health and Beauty)
I've been using the Elite 7300 for about a week now. I really do enjoy it - my teeth feel like I've just been to the dentist. I have fillings on the front of my teeth, and food frequently gets caught on the rough surfaces. Not anymore! The only real drawback I've found is brushing my tongue - brushing it with the toothbrush on sprays toothpaste all over the bathroom, and brushing it with the toothbrush off (like an old fashioned manual toothbrush) is annoying because the toothbrush head is very small. LOVE the 2 minute timer, and I just can't say enough that I LOVE how my teeth feel.

I had a tough time deciding on the different Elite lines, because I didn't find any helpful info on the difference between the models. So I'm going to tell you.

The 7800 allows you to change the pre-programmed 2 minute brushing time to 2 1/2 minutes. It also comes with a "luxury brush holder" - a wall mount kit. Also has a dual speed control and different charger... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth the upgrade?, September 8, 2003

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Philips Sonicare Elite e7300 Power Toothbrush (Health and Beauty)
As an owner of an "original" Sonicare (on my second actually) I am writing this review more from the perspective of whether the Elite is worth $[$$]+ as an "upgrade".

First, from an aesthetic and ergonomic point on view the Elite is a big step forward. The handle is lighter and has a tapered shape with a rubber grip. More importantly the brush head is smaller and is more of a diamond shape rather than the "original" rectangle. The brush head "neck" is also angled to provide easier access to the back teeth and "flexes" both horizontally and vertically.

That being said, the Elite just does not seem as "powerful" as the original. This is based not only on my subjective opinion of the "feel" while brushing but also on an objective "look" at the brush head while powered on. Whereas the original has bristles that travel through a 90 degree arc, the Elite bristles barely travel at all. Granted, this may be in part due to the smaller/shorter bristles. Sonicare claims that the Elite... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best value. The logical choice., August 26, 2006
By
John (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This model has all the features of the Elite 9500 (2 brush heads, 2 cleaning modes, programmable quadpacer, and a guage to indicate about how much charge is remaining in the battery), but it's $12 cheaper from Amazon!

All the "programmable quadpacer" feature amounts to is the ability to leave it on for an extra (i.e., a fifth) 30-second interval, or the ability to turn the timer off so that it's just on/off. I regard most of the features as functional ornamentation ("bells and whistles"), but the Elite 9800 also happens to be a dependable, super-lightweight model that will run a good three weeks on a charge with only one person using it. I went on a three-week trip and didn't bother to pack my charger, and it had charge to spare when I got back. NOTE: I always allow the NiCd battery run all the way down (to exhaustion) before charging it, and that enhances both the charge and battery life. (NiCd's only have so many charge cycles.)

If this is your first... Read more
